About the Image
Storm Cape Byron 2. On Easter Saturday night 2005 a lightning storm formed just off the coast of Cape Byron and it was also a full moon. At about 10pm I made my way up to Cape Byron with my 6x17 film camera. Mounting my camera on my tripod I set a 10 minute exposure to create this image-time lapse photography. In the 10 minutes that I had the camera open the moonlight lit up the landscape and all of the lightning strikes that happened were all captured on this one image. Also, the lighthouse is overexposed because it has spun around 40 times during the exposure. I can remember whilst taking this image a very intense lightning bolt occurring and at that moment I knew I had a powerful image.
